Rosso Anfora
The story of Ausonia is a true love story between Simone and Atri. Despite its origin in northern Italy, he was drawn to Abruzzo after a journey and chose to settle there. In this new home, he decided to create authentic cuvées, highlighting indigenous grape varieties. The amphora vinification of Montepulciano expresses his desire to craft a more supple and elegant cuvée of this grape, which is often characterized by its sometimes forceful power.

It’s hard not to succumb to the charm of this region. Indeed, after my visit to Ausonia, located 15 kilometers from the Francesco Cirelli estate, my passion for Abruzzo wines has grown even more.
These frank wines, with powerful and elegant character, immerse you in an almost unknown viticultural universe. They fully express the original terroir, revealing the power of the southern Italian sun, but without becoming heavy and syrupy thanks to the mineral soils that give the wines freshness and minerality.
Simone’s wines are no exception; on the contrary, they show that the balance between power and freshness can be further developed. This young winemaker from Mantova (Lombardy) has managed to marry the indigenous grape varieties of the area with cultivation and winemaking techniques different from the traditional ones. The result is straightforward, powerful wines with great personality capable of conveying many emotions.
