Mornen Noir “Mine de Rien”
Never heard of Mornen Noir or Les Deplaude de Tartaras ? That’s perfectly normal. This rare grape variety, a distant cousin of Chasselas, intrigues with its originality. Mornen Noir, although it is a red grape, has all the characteristics of a white wine. On the nose, it reveals delicate aromas of fresh fruit. Additionally, its structure, completely devoid of tannins, offers an incredible lightness and digestibility.
A sensory experience as unexpected as it is fascinating.

You’ll find iconic Rhône varietals alongside grapes from other regions that have adapted well to the local soils. Even more impressively, the Deplaude family has made it their mission to revive forgotten ancient grape varieties. As a result, it’s a real joy to rediscover treasures that time had almost erased.
Among these gems are the Chouchillon, the ancestor of Viognier, making a strong comeback, and the Mornin Noir, a lesser-known cousin of Chasselas. These ancient, nearly lost grape varieties are brought back to life here thanks to the passion and dedication of the Deplaude family. Consequently, these grapes offer wines with a unique history and character.
