Description

Metodo Classico Meunier “Dosage Zéro”

Gigi Ravarini is first and foremost a man of the vine. His enthusiasm and dedication to his vines are incredible. His wines are the perfect reflection of his philosophy and terroir: straightforward, honest, and powerful. The Meunier cuvée is born from a mistake. His nurseryman sells him Pinot Noir, except that Gigi realizes that some plants in the batch produce different grapes. After analysis, he discovers that it was Meunier and not Pinot. Gigi decides to continue cultivating Meunier but to vinify it separately.

Gigi Ravarini

Lost in a small village within the Franciacorta appellation lies Gianluigi Ravarini’s cellar, nicknamed Gigi. This artisan winemaker has been crafting sparkling wines since 2007 from the terroirs of Franciacorta. Gigi built his cellar in his hometown. Unlike most of the region’s land, his terroirs are not located on flat plains but on hillsides of a small mountain range to the east of the appellation, where the plots are richer in limestone and clay. This results in a quite different outcome from other wines of the appellation. Indeed, although situated within the Franciacorta appellation, some vintages do not bear the appellation’s name on the label. This is due to the characteristics that the terroir imparts to his wines, which are so captivating yet not in line with the style sought by the D.O.C.G. tasters.
